Check out Zadig & Voltaire!
French brand Zadig & Voltaire was established by Thierry Gillier, the grandson of Andre Gillier and co-founder of Lacoste, in 1997. It garnered attention for its accessible, high quality ready-to-wear designs that redefined what “luxury” meant.
In 2003, Swedish designer Cecilia Bönström became the brand's creative director. She brought along with her an edgy rock spirit and effortless bohemian style that transformed the label’s iconic pieces. The brand slowly expanded to menswear, children’s wear, leather goods, jewelery, eyewear, a fragrance, and candles. The brand has also launched Zadig & Voltaire Music, an independent music label honoring young rock artists.
After several seasons of exploring different directions and designs, this Spring Bönström decided to re-invent familiar items, such as fringed suede, cowboy motifs, and embroidered denim.
Designs were a sinuous blend of masculine and feminine, day and night. An embroidered and printed army jacket, and t-shirts with the words Happy, Peace, and Love represented the brand’s unwavering homage to rock chicks.
